  1. Is this site free?
    Yes! Participation in The Reading Lounge is absolutely free. However, since there are always a few expenses associated with running a website, we ask that you support our sponsors by taking time to consider their advertisements when you visit our site."
  2. Will I receive annoying emails from you?
    Not from me! As a member, you will have the option to receive email updates about the site as well as messages from other members of The Reading Lounge. Receipt of these emails is completely voluntary and will not affect your involvement in the clubs. Your email address is always kept confidential and is never released to other members of the site or to any third parties! Please view our Privacy Policy for more information
  3. Who picks the books that are discussed in the clubs?
    Each featured book is selected by the moderator of that club. If you have read a book that you would like to see discussed at The Reading Lounge, please contact Erin for more information about how to become a moderator."
  4. Who are the moderators of the book clubs?
    Our moderators are readers just like you. They are volunteers who give up a little of their time to create great book discussions for all of us to enjoy. All of the moderators are or have been members of other clubs and enjoyed the experience so much that they wanted to lead a book discussion. If you are interested in becoming a moderator, please contact Erin.
  5. Can I moderate a club?

Technical questions
  1. How do I login?
    If you are already a member of The Reading Lounge, click on the login link at the top right of the screen. You can enter the site by typing your username and password in the appropriate fields.

    If you are not currently a member of The Reading Lounge, follow this link and complete the form to create a book club account.
  2. How do I join a club?
    If you are already a member of The Reading Lounge, first log in to the website. Then browse our Featured Clubs and Upcoming Clubs. If you see a book that you would like to discuss, click 'Join'. You will automatically be added to the club.

    If you are not currently a member of The Reading Lounge, browse our Featured Clubs and Upcoming Clubs. If you see a book that you would like to discuss, click 'Join'. You will be instructed to create a book club account. Once your account is created, you will be added to the club.
  3. How do I participate in discussions?
    After you login, click on 'My Book Clubs' in the Members sidebar. Find the particular book which you want to discuss and click on the link labeled 'Go to the Discussion'. This will bring you to a page showing the current assignment that was chosen by the moderator.

    Under the current assignment is a list of each of the topics that your moderator has created for this reading assignment. Pick the topic you wish to discuss and click on the link labeled 'Discuss'. This will bring you to the current discussion showing the responses of other members to the moderator's topic. You may choose to reply to either the moderator's topic, or to any other member's responses by clicking on the
  4. How do I contact other members?
    After you login, click on 'Other Members' in the Members sidebar. Search for users by selecting the appropriate information from the drop down boxes. Click on the username of the member that you want to contact. Then click 'Send a Message'. A message field will appear. Type your message and click 'Send'. Your message will be sent to the member's email address.

  5. How do I deactivate my account?
    If you decide that you do not want to be a member of The Reading Lounge anymore, please contact Erin.
  6. Why doesn't this page look right on my internet browser?
    The Reading Lounge tries to follow well-known web standards, but not every internet browser follows those standards. We encourage our members to use Mozilla Firefox because of its adherence to standards, reliability, and security.
